We have over 500 qualified engineers and a dedicated marine team composed of structural, mechanical and electrical engineers, safety, environmental, security, human factors and risk specialists, and naval architects. Our involvement in many demanding marine projects combined with our interdisciplinary expertise, use of industry leading software and modelling techniques enables us to deliver measurable long-term value for our clients.
To help our clients meet their challenges we apply fresh thinking, delivering innovative solutions that improve performance and efficiency in both the civil and military marine sectors.
Our clients
Our clients include major oil companies, ship designers, shipping companies, shipyards and equipment manufacturers. We provide bespoke support to improve the designs of various vessel types, from emergency responders' high-speed craft to luxury yachts. In defence, we have provided customer-friend support to major procurement programmes such as the MARS and Queen Elizabeth Class vessels, ensuring that key aspects of their designs are fit for purpose and supported effectively.
Our capabilities
We provide support to enhance the performance and design of vessels and marine systems, as well as assisting shipping companies and others in maintaining compliance with regulations, in a way that is cost effective and aligned with existing business processes.
Our specialist engineering and technical capabilities support all life cycle phases, from concept design, initial research and development, provision of tender support, operation and maintenance, through to refit and disposal.
Our projects range from improving the performance of hull design at the concept design stage through to the structural analysis of wrecks to inform wreck management strategies. Our Hydrodyna (hydrodynamic modelling) tool has been applied to optimise the hull of high speed craft at the concept design stage, whilst anthropometric modelling has been applied to understand and reduce the shock to their occupants. Other projects have assessed the potential impact of modifications to vessels, in respect of air-wake, stability and performance, whilst our capabilities in noise, shock and vibration have been applied to reduce fatigue and improve passenger comfort.
We also apply bespoke modelling techniques to assess wake and interaction effects, with specialisms also including physical and explosives blast impact; corrosion; fatigue; fire and smoke analysis and vessel stability.
